Self-care for mental health professionals

In this SCC nurturing self-care is offered and received by mental health professionals who are seeking ways of caring for each other.

It invites participants to acknowledge and integrate their own personal and professional inner struggles.

It is a space where participants can better understand their feelings and develop a perspective that will be helpful for their own lives and, ultimately, for their clients.

Surviving Motherhood

"The mother-child relationship is paradoxical and, in a sense, tragic. It requires the most intense love on the mother's side, yet this very love must help the child grow away from the mother, and to become fully independent."  — Erich Fromm

Motherhood is a complex job. The responsibilities involved are often emotionally draining and the burden involved can be overwhelming at times. Moreover, it's a job that never ends, no matter how "grown up" a child may think he or she is.  Emotional support from other people is often critical in helping mothers cope with this challenging job.  Please join us to share your experiences with other mothers going through a similar situation.
